Annie's 4th Birthday

Sunday, March 22, 2020

My baby turned 4! And, honestly, it's really depressing that she is totally out of the baby stage. She is looking like a full on kid - but thankfully she still has her baby sweetness.
For Annie's fourth birthday, we had a birthday party at our house. We invited her friends over and had a princess themed party with all of her little girl friends. She kept confirming the guest list with me that everyone was a girl. I would mention her little friends that are boys and ask her if she wanted them to come to the party, and she very sadly would say "no mom. Just girls for my princess party." Hah it was really cute and funny how she approached it. But she kept asking if we can throw another party with her boy friends later. We'll have to make that happen.

At her birthday party everyone showed up dressed up in their favorite dress. Annie was Princess Anna and Laura dressed as Princess Elsa. We had a little pre-party jitters drama and Annie couldn't decide what princess costume she wanted or if she even wanted to dress up. But thankfully we got her little stress diffused and solved right before the party started. At the party we decorated princess crowns with all sorts of stickers and jewels. We played "keepy-uppy" with a huge balloon (randomly left over from my wedding reception - hah only took 7 years to find another use for it!). We played duck-duck-goose (Annie's FAVE game right now) and then "kiss the frog". Basically they put cut out kisses onto a frog prince poster that I made while blind folded. I originally was going to give them lipstick so that they could actually try to kiss the frog, but COVID-19 had just started to hit the news, so I figured that might not be such a good idea for the time being.
After "Kiss the Frog Prince" we decorated cupcakes and then opened presents.
I think my favorite part was all the hugs that Annie would give to each of her friends after she opened their gift. Honestly, she has the sweetest little friend group. I am LOVING the 4 year old girl stage and the friendships that accompany it. So much sweetness.
After presents the girls all jumped in the cold on the trampoline and kept decorating their crowns with extra jewels.  It was a successful little party and Annie was on top of the world the whole day!
The next day was Annie's actual birthday. Grandma Susan came to town to visit for the birthday weekend. We spent the day swimming, playing, going out for pizza, Annie went with Grandma to the toy store, and then at the end of the day she opened her presents and had cake and ice cream. It was a full weekend for sweet Annie.
I can't believe she's already 4. I love this sweet girl and am so glad to be her momma. She has so much energy, spunk and the love of being the comedian, but is also so tender hearted and a great helper to me and everyone around her.

For the last gift, we got a little scooter for both Annie and Laura - because Momma ain't down to hear any fights over that toy, so two definitely is better than one. ;)

Happy birthday, Sweet Annie!
