Wrapping up 2019 | WINTER

Thursday, January 16, 2020

Welllllll, I am kind of the worst about consistently writing on here. What can I say, two kids makes journaling online a little hard. Soo here are some of the things that happened during the seasons of 2019 that are worth documenting. :)

WINTER

Winter was a litte INSANE as far as Annie's health goes. One day we stayed home because Annie seemed a sick. She was low on energy, so I was taking care of her, but also utilizing the opportunity to get things done around the house. I stopped to sit by her for a little bit and noticed how hard she was struggling to breathe. You can see it in this video, but she was wheezing, and using all of her muscles to breathe.

I immediately called the doctors office and they told me to bring her in. On the way to the doctors office, I had to pull over on the side of the highway because Annie was about to throw up in the backseat. I pulled over and got her out in time to throw up in the grass, then we rushed on to the doctors office. Tyler met me there and they got us right in. They immediately put her on a breathing treatment and were testing her oxygen levels - which were low. Low enough and not improving to where our doctor wasn't comfortable with us driving her to the hospital without her having oxygen. So, cue the ambulance.

Tyler teared up when they were loading her up onto the stretcher. It was scary. No parent wants to see a situation where the doctor is scared enough that she's calling the ambulance. Anyways, we drove to Springdale to the Arkansas Childrens Hospital. We spent a while in the Emergency Room before the physician decided to admit her.

Above is Annie in the emergency room. She was so lethargic, it was scary. The teddy bear is from the Ambulance drivers.

After she got admitted, they moved her upstairs and started regular breathing treatments. The hospital was amazing. They brought her toys, a cute pillow case, showed her an iPad loaded with movies and games. She loved it all, but I could tell she was really sick because she was barely reacting. Healthy Annie would have been telling me all about everything. But as she got better, she began to play more and get her spunk back. (see the images below).

Her breathing got better and after 3 days, she was finally better enough to go home. They weren't ready to diagnose asthma yet. They said that it was probably a viral infection that she caught that she reacted poorly to.

However, a few weeks later, it happened again. We took her back to the Children's Hospital to the ER.
After treating her with lots of steroids and oxygen, the doctor was ready to diagnose her with reactive airway disorder (RAD). It's basically early asthma (they don't really diagnose asthma for kids this young). They taught me how to begin administering her inhalers. So now we have an emergency inhaler, as well as a daily steroid inhaler that helps strengthen and open her lungs - which in turn will help prevent and treat any asthma, so that her lungs will grow and develop nice and open.

Starting to feel better after all the treatments.

In other (and happier) news for the winter - Grandma Susan came to visit around Annie's birthday. The girls loved playing with and all over Grandma. :)

Other fun things about winter were that Tyler's cousin, Niki, and her husband, Davis, lived with us while they were in the process of renovating their house. They just finished school at BYU and Davis got a job at Walmart. We played games like every night, and Annie and Laura adored both of them. It was awesome. We also went on fun double dates together - like a fluid art night.

We also had Tyler's other cousin (Niki's brother) come with his family down to visit. It was great showing them around Arkansas!
We also went with them to a demo derby and ran into some other friends there. They solidified good standing with Annie because they gave her a cotton candy - that's a sure way onto her good list.
We also had fun creating new recipes to share with family - but that was all of 2019, not just winter. :)
Happy dance that my new crazy recipe turned out! (I know it looks burnt, but it really was delicious, soo don't judge based on that.)

Tyler and I attended the Shine Solar summit. The Iron Cowboy came to speak - and holy cow it was motivating. So much so that we signed up for a half ironman together later in the year. Ha!

 My snowy day babies!

Here are some winter time snuggly babies - enjoy the cuteness!

Here is Laura - with snapchat filters - It kills me. :D

 Sleepy time babies :)

Annie (and now Laura too) love raiding my closet and trying on my clothes and shoes. Such cuties.

Target run with my babies. Popcorn and milk are a must.

Someone knows where the good stuff is!

Annie loves to get her nails done with Mama. :)  and Lulu loves playing in sister's room.

Lots of play time at the Amazeum and Trampoline Park:

Someone CONQUERED potty training this year:

And we can't forget Max - the best pup. He had lots of winter time snuggles and naps too. :)

Max also helped me set up for a little photoshoot- he's a very cooperative model for photo testing.
Super Bowl party with friends :)
Hot tubbing at Uncle Caleb's house!
Lots of sushi dates - it's fun that our kids are getting to a fun stage to do activities with. :)

And final news for Winter 2019 - I began the process of going blonde. I have always been curious to know what I would look like as a blonde, so I finally got the courage and began the process.
